The good news

The gospel is God's good news to mankind. The word gospel means GOOD NEWS.

Would you like to know the good news? It can be expressed in four simple steps.

1. God's desire: peace and eternal life

God loves you and desires that you would live in peace with him and be given eternal life.

"...being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" Romans 5:1

"For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23

If God's plan is for us to have peace with Him and eternal life, why is there so many that do not experience this?

2. The problem: sin and separation

God did not create us as robots to love him and obey him without will. He has given us freewill and the freedom of choice.

As Adam did in the Garden of Eden, we also decided to disobey God and walk according to our own selfish desires (see Genesis chapters 2 and 3)

Walking according to these selfish desires is called sin and separates us from God.

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

"The wages of sin is death." Romans 6:23

(After Adam had sinned)"the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden." Genesis 3:23

"But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear." Isaiah 59:2

Sin has separated man from God.

3. God's solution: The cross

Jesus Christ is the only solution to being separated from God. He died on the cross and rose again from the dead to pay the penalty for our sins – He alone can bridge the gap between man and God.

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:12

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." 1 Timothy 2:5

(Jesus said) "Most assuredly I say unto you, he that hears my word and believes in Him who sent me has eternal life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life." John 5:24

God has prepared the only way to Himself...

We must choose...

4. The decision: Receive Jesus Christ

We can receive Jesus Christ if we believe in His message and believe that He alone can save us.

The Bible says...

"To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins." Acts 10:43

"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me." John 14:1

"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name" John 1:12

1. Acknowledge before God and confess that you are a sinner in need of Him

2. Turn from your sins (repent)

3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins on the cross and rose from the dead

4. Receive God's forgiveness of sins

"if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

"whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved." Romans 10:13

"nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:39

"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" Romans 5:1

"He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life,  and that you may believe in the name of the Son of God." 1 John 5:12-13

If you receive the Lord Jesus Christ, you become a part of the family of God. God's Holy Spirit, by a supernatural work, dwells within every believer and they pass from being dead in their sins to having true spiritual life. This work is called being born again.

May the Lord bless you new life in Jesus Christ.
